Job Responsibilities:

The Community Connections program consist of four community-based treatment programs, which provide individual and family counseling to families involved with the Department of Child Protection and Permanency (DCP&P) and New Jersey Children's System of Care (CSOC). The responsibilities of the Therapist/Clinician position include the following:

·  Provides quality clinical/treatment in home/community.

·  Posses sound knowledge and judgement in clinical processes including trauma informed approaches to support treatment and recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.

·  Support families that are/were involved with DCP&P and CSOC and provide appropriate interventions.

·  Conduct a comprehensive intake assessment and ongoing follow up to monitor risks.

·  Assist clients in establishing goals and strategies for increasing self-sufficiency and provide appropriate referrals when necessary.

·  Incorporates trauma informed integrated approaches to support treatment and recovery from mental health and substance use disorders.

·  Differentiates between the range of normal development and behaviors and pathological adaptations, and then initiates appropriate interventions.

·  Demonstrates the ability to utilize appropriate interventions in both non-crisis and crisis situations.

·  Uses a range of approaches according to client need (e.g. individual, family therapy or couples, in-home, crisis intervention, (short or long term) and is creative when needed.

·  Advocates, coordinates, and maintains on-going contact with other providers involved in clients' care.

·  Adhere to documentation requirements and attends weekly supervision and team meetings

Qualifications:

  • The candidate should be a culturally competent individual who will work in alignment with Family Connections' mission.
  • Valid NJ Driver's license
  • Master's in Social Work or equivalent master's in human services. Full licensure required either LCSW, LPC or state licensure/certification specific to degree.
  • Two years' experience in mental health. Experience with diverse populations in an urban setting, familiarity with the child welfare system, complex trauma, culturally competent and some experience with children and families.

Preferred:

  • Bilingual (Spanish/or Haitian Creole)

Work Environment/Physical Demands: The individual must possess the ability to perform work that requires frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of up to or more than 50 pounds.
