Location: Essex County
The Prevention Specialist is a key player and team member of the ADAPT Coalition Program. The Prevention Specialist is responsible for the facilitation of groups for older adults on alternative methods to pain management, including in-person and virtual sessions as needed by the local community. The Prevention Specialist plans and coordinates adult programming and outreach events for older adults and caregivers throughout Essex County. In addition, the Prevention Specialist performs outreach initiatives with various stakeholders, including but not limited to health department, doctor's offices, law enforcement, government officials, senior citizens, individuals aged 18-24, staff members at local colleges/universities, local businesses and others. Other duties include attending community meetings, assisting with data collection and analysis for reports, assisting with the coordination of additional coalition program functions and other duties assigned by the ADAPT Senior Manager and/or ADAPT Coordinator.
Education/Certification: Minimum of a BA in Public Health, Community Health, or a related field.
Experience and Knowledge: Previous experience with demonstrated success in facilitating groups, community organizing, team building, and working with the older adult and/or college-aged populations. Proven ability to work effectively on a team as well as strong Cultural Competence skills. Strong clerical, organization, and computer skills. A respectful, professional demeanor and proven ability to work with diverse populations.
Preferred: Bilingual, English-Spanish, or English-Creole
